About the National Radio and Television Commission
Dr. László Majtényi
Chairman of the National Radio and Television Commission
Dr. László Majtényi was born in Budapest, in 1950. He graduated at the Eötvös Loránd University of Sciences, Faculty of Political and Legal Studies. He took the Counsellors’ Bar Exam in 1978.  Mr. Majtényi is candidate in political and legal studies and an associate professor.
After graduating, he was the editor of several periodicals on social sciences. Between 1975 and 1980 Mr. Majtényi worked as a legal counsellor and since 1980 he has been teaching at several universities. He acted as a counsellor of the Constitutional Court later a chief counsellor. Mr. Majtényi was the DP&FOI Commissioner of the Republic of Hungary. Between 2003 and 2008, he was the president of the Eötvös Károly Public Politics Institute.
Mr. Majtényi is the author of several books and writings, which were published in Hungary and abroad.
Upon the joint nomination of the President of the Republic of Hungary and the Prime Minister, the Parliament elected Mr. László Majtényi as the Chairman of the National Radio and Television Commission.

Dr. György Ladvánszky

Mr. Ladvánszky was born in 1943. He graduated from the Faculty of Political Science and Law of the Eötvös Loránd University in 1968. After passing the judge/state attorney’s qualifying examination, he worked in the judicial administration. He left the Attorney General’s Office in 1990. Later, he worked as the senior legal advisor of the IBUSZ Rt. before starting to practice law. He was the Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the MTV Rt. during 1996-1999.
Since 29th Februry, 2000 he has been a member of the National Radio and Television Commission, elected by Parliament at the nomination of the Hungarian Socialist Party.
Since 29th March, 2004 he has been a member of the Commission, repeatedly elected by Parliament.

Dr. János Timár

Mr. Timár was born in 1950. Graduating from the Faculty of Political Science and Law of the Eötvös Loránd University, he then studied sociology at the ELTE. During 1974-1989, he worked as researcher at the Mass Communication Research Centre; later he became the program manager of the Median Public Opinion and Market Research Institute for seven years.
He was elected to the Commission, at the nomination of the Alliance of Free Democrats, by Parliament in 1996, reelected in 2000 and repeatedly elected in 2004.

Dr. János Wéber

Mr. Wéber was born in 1953. He graduated from the Faculty of Political Science and Law of the University of Pécs in 1976. He passed the legal advisor’s qualifying examination in 1981.
During 1991-1993, he was the head of the Commissioner of the Republic’s Office for Somogy-Tolna-Baranya Counties. In June 1993, he was appointed Deputy Secretary of State for sentence-execution and legal representation affairs of the Ministry of Justice.
He was elected to the ORTT by Parliament, at the nomination of the Hungarian Democratic Forum, in 1996 and reelected on February 29, 2000.
On March 29, 2004, he was repeatedly elected to the National Radio and Television Commission by Parliament. With regards to the changes in the group of MPs of the Hungarian Democratic Forum on 8th of November 2004, his mandate was terminated. Yet, the Parliament re-elected Mr. Wéber – for the remaining period of their mandate - as member of the National Radio and Television Commission, as of 15 November, 2004.

Annamária Szalai

Annamária Szalai was born in Zalaegerszeg in 1961. She received degrees at the Berzsenyi Dániel Teacher Training College of Szombathely in 1982, at the Adult Education Department of the Faculty of Humanities of ELTE in 1990, and the entrepreneurship specialization of the Specialist Economist and Financial Department of the School of Finance and Accounting in 1998. In 2000, she took up a PhD course in the history of technology, engineering and science at the Budapest School of Engineering and Economic Studies.
Between 1982 and 1984, she taught at the Ady Endre primary school in Zalaegerszeg, then worked as a journalist for the Zalai Hírlap during the period 1984-1985, became a film merchandiser for, and later manager of the film office of the Zala Megyei Moziüzemi Vállalat (Zala County Cinema Operating Company) and its successor between 1985 and 1997. During the period 1997-2002, she was director of the Concert and Exhibition Hall of the Town of Zalaegerszeg. She was an MP as of 1998.
She became a visiting lecturer and an assistant professor at the Communication Department of the Kodolányi János College in 2002 and 2003 respectively.
In 2004, she was elected member of the National Radio and Televisio Commission by the Parliament.

Dr. Márta Dobos

Dr. Márta Dobos was born in Dorog in 1954. She graduated from the Faculty of Political Science and Law of the Eötvös Loránd University in 1977. She passed a qualifying examination in law in 1979, then received an advanced-level social security qualification as well as passed a social security bailiff’s and a tax bailiff’s qualifying examination. Between 1977 and 1980, she was employed as a trainee and later as a teacher at the SZOT Central School. From 1980 to 1987, she worked as head of the Secretariat of the County Directorate of the National Social Security (NSS) General Directorate, and later as a senior member of the Secretariat of the NSS General Directorate. Between 1987 and 1991, she worked as a teacher, and then became Head of Department at the SZOT Central School. During the period 1991-1998, she headed the Human Policy and Training Department of the NSS General Directorate and its successor, the National Health Insurance Fund. In 1999, she was appointed general deputy director of the Budapest and Pest County Contribution Directorate of APEH (national tax authority), became deputy director for operations, and finally deputy director for foreclosure and liquidation at the Pest County Directorate of APEH.
On May 1st 2004, she was appointed General Director of the Office of the National Radio and Television Commission.
